Pourquoi ?
La stérilisation est recommandée si votre cobaye vit en couple et que vous ne souhaitez pas avoir de petits (qu’il faudra ensuite placer…). De plus, elle diminue fortement le risque de certaines pathologies ou comportements gênants (Chez la femelle : tumeurs de l’utérus ou des ovaires, tumeurs mammaires… Chez le mâle : hyperexcitation, marquage urinaire, agressivité…).
Quand ?
Il est conseillé de faire stériliser votre cobaye à partir de l’âge de 5-6 mois.
Y a-t-il des conséquences ?
La stérilisation peut faire prendre un peu de poids à votre cobaye ; il faudra donc surveiller son alimentation. Notre équipe vétérinaire vous conseillera à ce sujet.
